Here's an interesting piece about a high-income Chicago couple and the division of marital property in their dissolution of marriage case. Essentially one of the spouses started a business that became quite successful. The article talks like it's a "suprise" that the wife was awared 50% of the marital assets...from my perspective the bigger suprise is that she wasn't awarded more. It seems like a classic one-breadwinner and one homemaker marriage...typically the homemaker with less ability to earn future income gets the imbalanced verdict in her or his favor.
